DM of the Galaxy

I havent done anything much with the comic strip other than update and re-write a couple of sections. I have managed to try a few strips out on Facebook and it seemed to generate a few smiles. But sadly not enough to get me to do anything further with it.

I have access to all the graphics and software I need to produce this, and there are even websites geared around to helping authors make this happen.

Well we shall see.

D&D Gutted?

I thought Id have a look at how Darths and Droids was getting on, I knew they were starting from the first prequel film and working forwards. I have discovered (hardly a difficult revalation) that they have also done the original film trilogy as well. Bastards

I thoroughly recommend you go there and have a look. I have not looked because I dont want their humour or style to rub off on me, nor to I want to steal any of their jokes. My humour is very dark and British, rather than the American style they have there.

But I intend to write and finish the scripts I have and publish them and then wait and see what people think.

Scripts for DM of the Galaxy

Im currently in the process of formatting all my scripts and ideas into a format ready for producing the comic.

I've decided on a standard layout and editing everything I have written to suit the format I want to follow. Its been both good and bad. Good in that it means my jokes are tighter and a single episode suddenly becomes two or three, but bad because I'm not used to working to strict formats before. So maybe its not bad thing learning something new.

I also want to set a deadline, ideally once per month.

I am planning on publishing them online for free, but I will ensure that they are in order, but may go back and embellish them afterwards or insert an extra comic episode where necessary.

Lets plan on the first episode being 1st July 2014. I hope this date doesnt come back to haunt/ridicule me.

New Home of DM of the Galaxy

After much stalling, I have decided that this will be the new home of DM of the Galaxy, my tribute to DM of the Rings but with a Star Wars original trilogy angle.

I made so few posts on the original blog that I will be starting from scratch here all over again. No bad thing.

Lets Meet the Cast and Players

THE CAST:
DM- Eric – always trying to keep the peace and move the story on.

R2-D2- Karl – mouthy verbal player, who cant stay in character and ends up as the sneaky player.

C-3PO- John – not the cleverest of people, takes a while for things to sink in.

LUKE- Luke – whiny young player who names all of his characters after himself, despite protests from everyone else

OBI-WAN- NPC – the DM´s Mary-Sue character, very unpopular

HAN – Jason - dice rolling cheat

CHEWIE – Kevin – always being told to be quiet, to stay in character

LEIA – Jennifer – The DM’s suffering anti-geek girlfriend, only turns up for the odd session, and never seems to get along with Jason.

Lazy So and So

Sorry guys, just stumbled across my own blog wherein I had hoped to script my own version, but 3 years and Ive done nothing except write the odd script update.
I have 1 full script ready to go, but having trouble sourcing the screen caps.
We shall work onwards.

Moving Closer

I have the software to compose the comic strip, as well as the scripts. I have also gotten a fair few images/screencaps from the opening scenes to start.
I am hoping to have the first comic up by the end of December. I am also due to revise the scripts as I found I was using too much material in the early ones, too many jokes and ideas that I can spread out a bit.

Status Quo

No not the embarassingly rubbish rock band, but rather I am collecting screencaps for the series, and beginning to build a basic page layout template. Scripts have been written for the first 5 episodes, and seeing how everyone else is approaching it, I may get more life out of a seconds worth of film.

DM of the Galaxy has a Rival Already

I have been lazy, and no reason not to cry, but there is already a DM of the Galaxy rival out there in the form of Darths & Droids.

I have begun screencapping the film and will begin a slow production of maybe one or two a month.
D&D (ha ha) is actually running from episode 1 of Star Wars, whilst mine will start from episode 4.

Darths & Droids

A while back I mentioned the DM of the Rings, and how I envisaged a spinoff called DM of the Galaxy. Apart from a few scripts, and a holding webpage, I didnt really do anything else.

Seems someone else has beaten me to it, albiet in a different style than I anticipated with Darths & Droids.

So far it seems good. But this will not stop me. I have decided to continue on regardless.

Welcome to the Great Rip-off

Well until someone else does it, I thought I’d do it first.

As a big fan of The DM of the Rings, a webcomic that portrays a realistic look at the way a role-playing game would happen should the DM get a hold of Lord of the Rings and try to run it for a dysfunctional group of gamers, I thought it was about time someone did the same for Star Wars.

Now anyone can put this together, no different from any other idea, but DM of the Rings became big after it had been running for a few issues, so Im hoping the same success here for GM of the Galaxy.

But that isnt the real reason Im doing this, its more to get exposure as a writer, and comedy skit writer, we shall see.
